The Leidos Global Supply Chain organization is seeking an Associate Director to support its Strategic Sourcing Procurement function. This role will report directly to the Strategic Sourcing Procurement Director and will be an integrated member of operation supporting the larger corporation.

The Associate Director is accountable for all Huntsville Manufacturing Procurement activities. Similarly, the Associate Director is responsible for governance, organizational development and execution of the strategic materials within the Procurement team. The Associate Director will manage and lead a team of multiple managers, leads, and individual procurement professionals.

Additionally, you will be expected to work collaboratively with our functional partners, technical teams, and customers to drive efficiency, differentiation and execution that will support significant business opportunities and customers. You will implement strategies related to successful execution of strategic materials procurement to ensure products are delivered on time and represent the best value for Leidos and its customers. This includes supporting supplier assessments, understanding supplier technology and capabilities, reviews and negotiations of terms and conditions, and program procurement activities for the Huntsville Manufacturing location. You will be asked to lead the development of corporate and Strategic Sourcing briefing material for the executive team, along with communications within Global Supply Chain.

The duties of the Associate Director include:

  • Leading full life cycle Procurement activities for programs within the corporation, including but not limited to: Supplier contract negotiation and administration, supplier development, sourcing activities, negotiations of terms and conditions, and issue resolution with solutions. May engage in supplier relationship management; regulatory compliance, and risk management activities to support buying team and supply chain goals.


  • Ensure that Procurement awards and packages are appropriately reviewed and approved in accordance with the Authority to Operate and in compliance with all contract requirements, company policies and procedures, and applicable laws and acquisition regulations.


  • Demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with other functions and suppliers to solve issues of varying degrees of complexity. Communicates with stakeholders across the organization to ensure customer and program requirements are met through the procurement process.


  • Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations. Must have experience with all contract types and a working knowledge of FAR/DFAR. Understand AS9100 / ISO standards


  • Monitoring supplier compliance and performance, including timely delivery of deliverables, in coordination with the program or sector leadership


  • Resolving supplier performance and/or quality issues in collaboration with organizational leadership, mission assurance, and program team


  • Promote a culture of teamwork, trust and inclusion while developing staff / leaders


  • Key supplier advocate and interface into our procurement, business development, material estimating, mission assurance, and finance organization


  • Intimate knowledge of industry capabilities / standards, different commodity types, and partnerships


  • Support negotiation of supplier agreements and contractual terms and conditions


  • Support internal/external audit activities, including Purchase Order file reviews, as well as, data request from internal / external customers


  • Managing procurement professionals in executing day-to-day activities. Providing training, mentorship to a team with varied levels of proficiencies. Conducting performance reviews, define development actions, identify and engage with top talent in his/her team.

Basic Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field with 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6+ years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of degree.


  • Must be US Citizen.


  • Experience managing and training a broad team of 5 - 10 people


  • Experience in procurement, subcontracts, material commodities, supplier relationship management, and related functions with particular emphasis on negotiation, government manufacturing, procurement material execution


  • Strong grasp of negotiation techniques.


  • Strong management and leadership skills, inclusive oriented mindset


  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective relationships internally and externally


  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal


  • Comfortable working with executives and presenting details and priorities to senior leaders


  • Drive organizational efficiencies and cost savings to the business

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CostPoint ERP preferred


  • CPSM, CPC or CFCM, ISM, APICS, PMI PMP, or other relevant professional certification(s)


  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and/or manage change


  • Demonstrated ability to energize and promote execution with creativity

Pay Range:

Pay Range $98,150.00 - $177,425.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
