Director of Community Relations & Financial Programs

A key member of Blackbaud's Corporate Impact team (CI), the Director of Community Relations & Financial Programs serves as a subject matter expert on critical issues in the finance and banking industries and their & financial education impact and the CI business. The Director will support both external and internal efforts , establishing and expanding thought leadership across all facets of CI's financial education business. The Director serves as a leading external representative and influencer on this subject across a broad audience of customers and prospects, government officials, public education administrators, industry and consumer groups, community leaders, and media representatives, thereby serving as a brand ambassador, thought leader, and sales enabler.

The Director also serves as a key internal stakeholder and advisor on product design, innovation, sales and marketing strategies, and internal team education and enablement.

What you'll do:

Business Development & Go To Market

  • Serve as key advisor in shaping the strategy and go-to-market plan for CI's financial education business in collaboration with other leaders.


  • Support sales efforts by joining external commercial calls and meetings as CI's subject matter expert on the financial sector and financial education.


  • Build and manage strategic partnerships with leading industry groups, consumer organizations, and other corporations to drive CI's business and brand goals.


  • Collaborate with marketing/demand generation teams across CI on thematic campaign planning, event execution, and content creation to share insights and best practices, build brand awareness, and drive demand for CI's solutions. Content may include but not be limited to: blogs, articles, event presentations, videos, podcasts, social media posts, and webinars.


  • Review and analyze legislative/regulatory developments (e.g., the Community Reinvestment Act), emerging industry trends, and best practices in the financial sector that impact both financial institutions and financial education. Serve as a key advisor to CI on how these dynamics and trends impact our customers, consumers, and business.


External Thought Leadership

  • Represent CI's topical thought leadership by presenting at industry events, engaging with local, state, and federal government officials, and industry-leading organizations.


  • Create or respond to media requests and/or public relations engagements as deemed appropriate by company public relations and marketing teams.


  • Collaborate with CI's Government Relations team, where appropriate , on positioning and industry event attendance.


Internal Capacity Building

  • Support sales of Corporate Impact's financial education products across all areas of sales operations including supporting the development of sales assets and resources with product marketing and business development.


  • Deliver internal professional development and other capacity-building efforts, in the form of internal trainings , update briefings, and more.


Product Development

  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of CI's leading financial education programs.


  • In collaboration with Product team members, conduct content research and development, script review and revision, selection of external subject matter experts, design of course activities, construction of course surveys, and data reporting.


  • Provide leadership across the CI team by participating in leadership team meetings, and leading other internal and external meetings, focus groups, advisory boards, etc.


  • Maintain a positive, professional presence that exemplifies Blackbaud's core values in all internal and external forums, online and in person.


  • Other duties and projects as assigned.


What you'll bring:

  • 10 years of professional experience and deep subject matter expertise in the banking or financial services industry, with a focus on the Community Reinvestment Act and its regulations, guidelines, and best practices.


  • Demonstrated experience interacting with senior leaders, C-suite executives, Education Professionals ( ie . School Administrators, Teachers, etc.) and/or government officials.


  • Expert knowledge of areas of subject matter expertise across populations, the settings and stakeholders that are engaged in these initiatives, and the relevant laws and regulations governing financial institutions.


  • Exceptional research and analytical skills, with an emphasis on the ability to synthesize vast amounts of information into key findings and convey them to practitioners and the general public .


  • Strong executive presence, outstanding written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate complex concepts clearly, concisely, and compellingly to a range of personas (including C-suite and senior leadership).


  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to a collaborative, supportive team culture.


  • Exceptional organizational skills, including attention to detail and ability to balance multiple tasks and shifting priorities.


  • Resourcefulness, flexibility, an entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to social impact.


  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time domestically.

The starting base pay is $133,700.00 to $173,800.00. Blackbaud may pay more or less based on employee qualifications, market value, Company finances, and other operational considerations.
