Job Description:
The Head, AMCB D&A Data Stewardship will shape and lead Data Stewardship across AMCB Lines of Business and federated groups. S/he will be a change agent, innovator and influencer. S/he will bring exceptional leadership skills and the ability to drive sustainable change and improvement across this critical customer-facing portfolio, working closely with enterprise-wide leaders and stakeholders. This role will be best served by an executive who will be engaged by the opportunity to build a high performing team, create internal capability to deliver on challenging transformative mandates as well as optimize existing performance.
Depth & Scope:
- Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required
- Owns definition and oversight of the Data Stewardship Roadmap (execution plan) - Designs, monitors, measures and reports on the roadmap execution and progress
- Data stewardship Leadership and management- develops and executes mandates, interaction, change management and decision protocols to advance enterprise-wide accountability over TD's data assets with the customer experience top of mind
- Accountable for the education and continuous development of data stewards
- Effective stakeholder communication and training in support of the OCDO mandate and metrics, customer focus and regulatory requirements
- Responsible for Data Quality Management, Metadata Management, Master and Reference Data Management, Issue & Change Management and Enterprise Data Lifecycle Management
- Leads all Regulatory relationships and responds to data questions and manages regulator communication and implementation of AMCB regulatory OCDO communications
- Establishes and facilitates an effective challenge process
- Ensures full scope of AMCB Data governance councils/meetings, membership and reporting cadence are aligned and maintained effectively
- Chairs and leads AMCB Data Steward Council
- Drives adoption of the Data Stewardship Operating Model
- Communicates with AMCB Business Governance Teams and their Risk Councils to inform on key risk and remediation activity
- Defines DAR Reporting Requirements and works with AMCB Business Intelligence and Reporting team to identify trends in Data Asset Risk. Provides commentary to key risk items
- Establishes and manages process to govern currency, updates and modification to data dictionaries, manage inventory of data dictionaries (including 3rd party sources)
- Works with Data Solutions pillar to establish standards for data dictionaries, gaps against standards, and plan to address gaps for Data Issues and Change Remediation
- Facilitates discussion on data issue, change impact, root cause and remediation plan development with other D&A pillars to facilitate the execution of Data Issue and Change Remediation Plan, Data Issue and Change Reporting and Builds commentary around reporting for use in AMCB Data Segment Council and other key update forums to support status, risk, issues etc. of remediation
- Defines reporting views required to support DICG management process and OCDO requirements
- Data Lineage and requirements for data lineage coverage for CDEs across AMCB data environments
- Provides support to data stewards for downstream impact assessment from upstream changes/issues and in tracing data to its source and transformation applied along the data path
- Ensures capture of technical metadata in the Enterprise Metadata Repository (EMR) and MarketPlace environments
- Oversees the capture of technical metadata through the Incoming Data Collection (IDC) process for data ingested into EDPP
- Works with Data Solutions pillar to gather technical metadata for data sources ingested into EDPP & Metadata Repository
Education & Experience:
- Undergraduate and graduate degree in relevant field
- 10+ years relevant experience
- Ability to communicate complex data related topics and transformational change drivers to the broader organization
- Ability to build strong relationships; Effective collaborator, communicator and ability to influence
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and to support and formulate concrete processes and concepts from concept to implementation
- Ability to facilitate, support and lead change
- Ability to take risks that are understood and can be managed
Customer Accountabilities:
- Working knowledge of general banking/consumer finance products, policies and operations
- In-depth industry knowledge, including current big data trends and challenges globally
- Ability to create business cases and explain the business value of projects
- Ability to present compelling solutions to business problems to senior leaders
- Excellent client relationship skills at the project leadership level, demonstrated effective teamwork and a track record of consistently exceeding goals
- Proven ability to communicate effectively at senior levels, builds deep relationships with various business groups
- Experienced with working in both a technical and business context and able to translate technical concepts into easy to understand business language
