CSL Plasma operates one of the world's largest and most sophisticated plasma collection networks, with more than 300 plasma collection centers in U.S., Europe and China. Plasma collected at CSL Plasma facilities are used by CSL Behring for the purpose of manufacturing and delivering its life-saving therapies to people in more than 100 countries.

CSL Seqirus was established in 2015 from the joining of bioCSL, CSL's former influenza division and the legacy Novartis Influenza Vaccines business. CSL Vifor is a strong and rapidly growing presence in nephrology and is committed to launching the next generation of therapies to address the full spectrum of kidney disease, with a focus on dialysis and rare disease. This is supported by their founding heritage and expertise in iron deficiency therapy, helping to support a broad range of patients in need.

RESPONSIBILITIES

You will lead global health and international affairs for CSL. Given the nature of the global vaccines ecosystem, the role will be dedicated to CSL Seqirus with a major focus on optimizing the policy environment around the global influenza network and emergent respiratory virus system. It will also partner with the CSL Seqirus pandemic team to develop strategies and to shape global biosecurity policies and approaches.

For the CSL enterprise, the role will protect and promote CSL's global policy interests and reputation, oversee monitoring and evaluation of macroeconomic trends, geopolitics, and international policy developments, and ensure analyses are translated into insights and strategic advice for CSL leadership.

You will also foster business relationships and thoughtful partnerships with multi-lateral organizations and other global health partners. You will work with the CSL Seqirus communications team in the role and across CEA BPs and CoEs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
  • Define CSL's global health policy interests and priorities in collaboration with CEA BP teams and co-create strategies and plans to achieve shared goals.
  • Shape the global influenza response and surveillance system and emergent multilateral frameworks and instruments to align with CSL Seqirus strategy.
  • As a dedicated partner to the CSL Seqirus Global Pandemic Team, grow global expertise and shape biosecurity/pandemic polices and approaches that value preparedness and response offerings.
  • Oversee monitoring and evaluation of macroeconomic trends, geopolitics and major developments in global health policy and international affairs, identifying material risks and opportunities and providing insights and recommended actions, briefs and reports to senior leadership.
  • Oversee the development of positions on global health and international issues in collaboration with CSL Corporate Affairs, ensuring links to strategy.
  • Ensure a coordinated CEA, scientific and technical representation on global/international committees and multi-lateral programs.
  • Ensure CSL is represented on relevant international trade association committees, directing senior CSL leader engagement and briefings.
  • Represent CSL at major global forums and foster relationships with global health leaders and the diplomatic Corp to support information exchange and priorities.
  • Manage global health and international platforms that can be used to support CSL policy shaping expertise by teams across the enterprise and coordinate enterprise efforts.
  • Develop a focused portfolio of global partnerships beyond the WHO to grow our global health priorities, in collaboration with the CSL Coalition & Advocacy CoE.
  • Oversee as an expert advisor to CSL Behring and CSL Vifor on biopharma and plasma access to medicines policy issues at the global and regional level.
  • Foster MLO engagement and partnership opportunities and entry points.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in public health, science, global/public policy, international affairs/development
  • 15+ years' experience in public affairs, policy and advocacy, government affairs, communications and/or global across vaccines/biopharma, government, trade associations and NGO/MLOs.
  • Understanding of international affairs and geopolitics, main global health issues, actors and processes, platforms, and how to navigate and use these to support positive outcomes.
  • Experience influencing and shaping global health policies at the national, regional, and global levels, and maintaining partner networks and partnerships.
  • Understand scientific, clinical, and technical concepts and how they translate to strategic policy risks and opportunities,
  • Multilingual
