NVIDIA has continuously reinvented itself over two decades. Our invention of the GPU in 1999 sparked the growth of the PC gaming market, redefined modern computer graphics, and revolutionized parallel computing. More recently, GPU deep learning ignited modern AI - the next era of computing. NVIDIA is a "learning machine" that constantly evolves by adapting to new challenges that are hard to tackle, that only we can pursue, and that matter to the world. This is our life's work, to amplify human creativity and intelligence.
At NVIDIA, we are building the system, hardware, and software technology which enables autonomous driving. Our safety engineering team is currently looking for a CPU Safety Architect to help develop the next generation of system on chip (SoC) products for autonomous driving. On our SoC development team, you will have a chance to create and work with some of the most exciting technologies in the world. You will the opportunity to invent autonomous driving products using camera systems, RADAR, LIDAR, HD maps, path-planning, and vehicle dynamics functionalities. You will get to work with machine learning, computer vision, and robotics approaches. All of these technologies are fundamental to develop an end-to-end AI computing product for self-driving-cars.

What you'll be doing:
You will be working closely with internal and partner safety engineering teams to deliver state of the art products. Specific responsibilities of the CPU Safety Architect role include:
- Collaborate with architects and designers to find optimal implementations of safety diagnostics in hardware and software.
- Perform safety analysis and verification activities to confirm NVIDIA architectures meet applicable performance targets, and aggressively work to improve products when issues are identified.
- Define safety requirements for the CPU subsystem and drive implementation of safety requirements into designs.
- Influence 3rd party IP provider designs and integrate their SEooCs into NVIDIA CPU subsystems.
- Support fault injection and safety related verification activities.
- Assist in creation of architecture specifications, safety manuals, analysis reports, and user guides.
What we need to see:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in an engineering field with at least 10+ years of meaningful experience in development and integration for automotive safety related semiconductors.
- Possess a deep understanding of functional safety development processes needed to follow the ISO 26262 functional safety standard.
- Experience in conducting safety analyses on semiconductor CPU subsystems with high degree of logic integration.
- Expertise in requirements management and familiarity with common requirements management tools
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Willing to travel (up to 10% of the work time) is a necessity.
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
- Experience developing semiconductors for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) or autonomous driving
- Understanding of ARM CPU architecture and related IP integration
- Relevant safety personnel certifications (e.g. CFSP, CFSE, or equivalent)
- A proven record of achieving semiconductor safety certifications from third party assessors such as TUEV SUED, exida, or equivalent
NVIDIA gives automakers, tier-1 suppliers, automotive research institutions, and start-ups the power and flexibility to develop and deploy breakthrough artificial intelligence (AI) systems for self-driving vehicles. NVIDIA's unified AI computing architecture enables training deep neural networks in the data center on the NVIDIA DGX-1™, and then seamlessly runs them on NVIDIA DRIVE AGX inside the vehicle. This end-to-end approach uses NVIDIA DriveWorks software and allows cars to receive over-the-air updates to add new features and capabilities throughout the life of a vehicle.
We believe that realizing self-driving cars will be a defining contribution of our generation (e.g. traffic accidents are responsible for ~1.25 million deaths per year worldwide). We have the funding and scale, and are looking for high quality, self motivated individuals to grow our team. NVIDIA is widely considered to be one of the technology world's most desirable employers. We have some of the most forward-thinking and innovative people in the world working for us. Are you creative, autonomous and love a challenge? If so, we want to hear from you so you can be a part of the NVIDIA family!
