This role is directly linked to the success of the Data Stewardship program, which is the enablement function of Discover's Enterprise Data Management Program.
You'll act as the primary liaison to business-aligned data stewards and data subject matter experts who provides oversight of our data assets for the purpose of ensuring data quality and maintaining a consistent use of our data resources across the enterprise.
You will partner with business, technology, analytics, compliance, and business risk teams to ensure that data is collected, governed and shared in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Additionally, this role will provide and coordinate support to leadership on strategic business initiatives including planning, prioritization, and project execution. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.
Responsibilities
- Provides logistical support and leadership for many of the activities intended to set strategic direction and maintain alignment within the business. Participates in business unit scorecard and process reviews.
- Provides overall direction and support to the leadership team in defining, prioritizing, pursuing, and monitoring major initiatives.
- Manages and interprets data on business performance. Monitors and optimizes business performance.
- Manages budget and expense planning.
- Liaison to data stewards and data subject matter experts who conveys stewardship responsibilities and ensures timely completion
- Actively manage and escalate data risk and customer-impacting issues to management
- Coordinate with upstream and downstream teams utilizing data to identify correct business and technical subject matter experts to engage in ongoing stewardship processes
- Execute controls and maintain relevant data/system/business process documentation and policy updates
Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, here's what we need from you:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration & Management, Finance, Marketing, Communication, or related.
- 6+ years of experience in Finance, Marketing, Operations or general business management, or related.
- In lieu of a degree, 8+ years of experience in Finance, Marketing, Operations or general business management, or related.
Preferred Qualifications
If we had our say, we'd also look for:
- 8+ years of experience in Finance, Marketing, Operations or general business management, or related
- 8+ years of experience in data management and solutions in a business role, or related field
- Solid understanding of data-management concepts including metadata management, data quality, data governance, and data modeling
- Experience gathering data requirements and performing complex data analysis is required
- Experience driving adoption of data capabilities across technology groups and enabling data literacy
- Ability to engage effectively with technical and analytics partners, understand business data requirements and translate to actionable solutions
- Direct experience with Data Governance software (e.g., Alation, Metadata Hub)
- Direct experience with Data Quality software (e.g., Anomalo)
- Experience working in a regulated environment

Compensation:
The base pay for this position generally ranges between $103,000.00 to $174,200.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
